"Dancing With Danger, aka Save the Last Dance was a great project and couldn't have come at a better time. I had just finished a grueling film and needed something to re-kindle my love of movie-making. A super A.D. team, fantastic actors and Cheryl Ladd to look at every day. What could be better?

The film only had three effects in it, not much even for USA network, but they were fun to pull off. The stand-out was a throat-slash effect. The killer's choice of death!

Many times during pre-production, directors/producers and what-not say, 'we won't see any graphic effects.' And MANY times they LIE! Such was the case with the Throat-Slash.

At the last minute, decision was made to see the wound in the opening shot. The cut was created with wax, latex and tissue - built up on the actor. Eventually we added it to other victims, sometimes fresh, other times aged a bit.

For the end sequence, a simple bullet hole in the head. Just wax (not even a plug!). This photo is without the blood.
