If
your modem is experiencing frequent disconnects, try the following
steps to help eliminate this problem.
ENTER COMMAS WHEN DIALING
When dialing the connection number place 4 or 5 commas immediately after
the telephone number, for example, 8829081,,,,,. The commas will limit
the connection speed to eliminate retrain problems.
CHANGE YOUR PC SETTINGS
If adding commas to your dialup number doesn't correct the problem, follow
these steps.
1. Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Modems, Properties, Connection,
and Advanced.
2. Under Extra Settings, type the following, including the commas: AT+ms=,,,,,41333.
If AT+ms=,,,,,41333 does not work, try AT+ms=V34.
3. Click OK at the bottom of the screen, and test by dialing the connection
number.
Problems related to certain HCF modem models cannot be resolved without
a firmware upgrade to your modem. The computer manufacturer's website
should be listed in your modem documentation papers, or on the modem
