CENTURY LINK CUSTOMERS:

Make sure you have a Century Link email address, otherwise you won't be able to SEND your oregoncoast.com email!

Click on Tools -> Accounts ---> Properties button

(you must edit the Advanced TAB and the Outgoing Server TAB in order to send email using Century Link's DSL)

1.) click on the Advanced tab:

set the Incoming server port to 25, Outgoing server to 587

Click OK, return to ACCOUNTS, highlight the oregoncoast.com email address AGAIN, click on Properties

Click on Outgoing Server, select: My server rrequires authentication

click on Settings BUTTON:

3.) Your account name (your Century Link email address) must be entered here:

Click OK, you're done! MAKE SURE you exit immediately, do NOT force the email program to function, that is, try to send mail! EXIT first!!!!

for other ISP's .. which may not work unless you sign up for an email address with that ISP:

 

Click on Tools -> Accounts ---> Properties button

Click on Servers TAB, click in the box "My server requires authentication"

Click on Settings BUTTON

Click on Use same settings as my incoming mail server

Note: COMCAST customers must use: smtp.comcast.net as their SMTP server
and their Authentication Settings must be for their Comcast account.

so click on Log on using and enter the first part of your Comcast email address and the Comcast password


remember, you may need to insert the information from your ISP, so be
sure and find out what their SMTP (outgoing) mail server settings are!!!!
