Windows Mail Pesky Annoyances

Sometimes the mail stuck in the Outbox can't be deleted within the Windows Vista Mail.

Two ideas:

1.) Microsoft's Patch - this DOES work.

2.) Or, a little utility program from oehelp.com might be the answer.

All one has to do is create a folder, download the zipped files to your Desktop, then extract the files to the new folder.

(You will need to locate the database where the Windows Mail is stored)

Make SURE you exit the email program or this utility won't work.

Windows Mail Running Slowly:

CAUSE: Spybot (Immunize function), SpywareBlaster, or other similar programs add a large number of entries to Internet Explorer's restricted sites list. This will cause a severe performance problem in Windows Mail after installing the KB931768 critical Windows update. The slowness comes from Windows Mail having some kind of conflict with the update and the spy program making it read through the long list of restricted sites.

A work around:
1. Open Windows Calendar from within Windows Mail.
2. Close Windows Calendar after a minute.

How to fix this:
NOTE: You must do this from within a Administrator account.
1. Click Winmail.reg (Below), and save to your desktop.

Winmail.reg (Click here to download)

2. Right click Winmail.reg (On desktop), and click Merge.
3. Click Run button for Security Warning pop-up.
4. Click Continue button for UAC prompt.
5. Click Yes for the pop-up window. (See screenshot below)
6. Click OK for the pop-up window. (See screenshot below)
NOTE: To undo this:
1. Open Start Menu.
2. In white line (Start Search) area, type regedit and press Enter.
3. Click Continue button for UAC prompt.
4. In regedit, go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\MAIN\FeatureControl\FEATURE_MIME_SNIFFING
5. In right pane, right click winmail.exe and click Delete. (See screenshot below)
6. Click Yes on the pop-up window. (See screenshot below)
7. Close regedit. You're done. Source, http://www.vistax64.com/
