Kiwanda Educational Learning Program (KELP)

KELP, the tidepool learning program, will continue this year at Cape Kiwanda.  KELP educates people of all ages about the fragile ecosystem of the intertidal community and develops an appreciation for living organisms they often overlooked in the past.  Children can locate and touch intertidal organisms while learning not to remove the organisms from their “homes”.  KELP also educates the public about the protected Marine Gardens at Cape Kiwanda.  KELP volunteers with identifying vests will wander through the tidepool area to describing to people what they are looking at and direct their attention to any unique animals encountered. KELP is informal and geared to your interests.  Please call Lainie Koch (Neskowin Valley School) 392-3124 or Carol Bickford (Nestucca Neskowin Watershed Council) 392-6134 for more information.
