Professional Experience

1983-present. Civil & Structural Engineering Consultant. Alameda and Berkeley, CA & Cloverdale, OR. My consulting practice has allowed me to participate in a wide range of civil & structural engineering and building design projects. This includes building designs from small residential projects to large industrial and commercial projects. The scope of work included all typical project concerns from conceptualization the design to project and construction management. I have been the engineer for numerous seismic retrofit projects and new buildings in the critical seismic and wind zones in California and Oregon. I have worked with all of the commonly used building materials and some of the newer more innovative building materials as well as aluminum. Foundation design has been another aspect of my practice. I have also designed various types of construction equipment, including overhead and gantry cranes, high rise building window washing systems, pipe x-ray handling devices and other materials handling equipment.

1977- 1983 Chief Engineer, NESCO. Berkeley, CA.

My duties as chief engineer at NESCO covered all aspects of design and fabrication for this small equipment and crane manufacturer. We participated in many worldwide projects that included such jobs as the Alaska Pipeline, NASA cranes and equipment and the Saudi Arabian development projects. I designed several buildings during this period as part of our facility expansion project.

1970-1977 Designer and Design Engineer(EIT) California and Oregon This period of employment was spent providing design of overhead and gantry cranes, construction buildings and facilities and other types of material handling equipment. I worked on several large materials handling facilities such as the Lower Granite Dam, Alaska Sand & Gravel aggregate plants and equipment for Lockheed Missiles and Space Company.
