How to authenticate Mac Mail when connecting through another ISP (July 30, 2010)

Launch MAIL by selecting it from the dock.

If these settings do not work for sending email using oregoncoast.com email address, you must use the user name and password the of ISP you are connected to. Security threats have forced mail administrators to change their settings to avoid a breach.

Open Mail options from the top menu and select Preferences

Select your email account in the Accounts screen an then click on the Edit button.

click on Account Information

In the SMTP Server Options: server port is 25

If these settings do not work when connected to another ISP, you must contact that ISP and find out what your user name and password is if you do not already know them. Then, use that ISP's user name and password for authentication and not oregoncoast.com user name and password for the SMTP mail server.
