Don't leave mail on server
Mail clients enable an option to leave a copy of your messages on our mail server as a backup, so you can read your email from several computers. If you use this option, each time you ask to receive mail, your mail client downloads a copy of messages from your mail server to your computer. When you delete messages from your mail client they are deleted only from your local computer.
As result, your mailbox on the server could exceed its quota of 50 MB. Large amount of messages on server could result in slow performance and even a failure to receive messages.
Removing messages manually
Sometimes you MUST manually delete messages from the server at least once a week through webmail.
If you already experience problems due to an overloaded mail box, clean up messages from the server through Web Mail at our website, http://www.oregoncoast.com (be sure to EXIT your email program before loggin on to Web Mail, the mail server won't allow two logins)
Removing messages automatically
It is advised to limit the mail duplication to 7 days or even less if you receive large quantities of mail. Use the following guides to set the "Leave mail on server" option properly: |
